REGULAR MEETING
MAY 23, 1988
Mrs. Rinderle invited the news media to come to the area and look
at the situation. Mr. James Wensits, Reporter, South Bend
Tribune, inquired when the 30 MPH speed limit signs were posted
and Mr. Leszczynski advised that they were installed last week.
Mr. Leszczynski advised those present that the City has been
monitoring the traffic situation in Bercliff Estates and a study
revealed that the average speed through the area is twenty-two
(22) miles per hour. He further advised that one (1) moving
violation occurred on the day the study was conducted in that
someone ran a stop sign. Mr. Leszczynski reiterated that a check
of the area revealed an average of twenty-five (25) vehicles
through the area with an average speed of twenty-two (22) miles
per hour. Mr. Leszczynski advised, in response to a question
from Mr. Wensits, that it is felt that the speed limit as posted
is adequate. Mr. Leszczynski informed those present that the
City has been watching the situation in that area.
Due to the concerns raised, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that
this matter be referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, to
continue to monitor the area to assure that all safety needs are
being met. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion and it carried.
ADJOURNMENT
There being
motion made
carried, the
1
ATTEST:
no further business to come before the Board, upon a
by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and
meeting adjourned at 10:07 a.m.
Sandra M.
