<br />Ms. Betsy Harriman, Department of Economic Development, advised
<br />that a copy of the letter the Board accepts for filing today,
<br />along with the attorney's opinion, will be sent to HUD and they
<br />will review the matter and determine whether or not to issue a
<br />waiver. The fact that Ms. Earles sits on the Neighborhood
<br />Housing Services Board is the potential conflict. It was noted
<br />that when this matter comes before the Neighborhood Housing
<br />Services Board, Ms. Earles would refrain from any type of
<br />participation or discussion on the matter.
<br />REQUEST OF LOCAL #5 UAW FOR NO PARKING SIGNS AT 1426 SOUTH MAIN
<br />STREET - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas E. Taylor, President, Local
<br />#5 UAW, 1426 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that
<br />the Local #5 UAW Joint Council has empowered him to petition the
<br />Board to grant their request for the installation of "no parking
<br />signs" along their Main Street property line to help in
<br />protecting against further damage to their property. Mrs.
<br />DeClercq made a motion that the request be referred to the
<br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and
<br />recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried.
<br />REQUEST OF ERSKINE BOULEVARD RESIDENTS TO CONDUCT 3RD ANNUAL
<br />CANDLELIGHT WALK - DECEMBER 17 1989 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas A. Wolford, 2620 Erskine
<br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission, on behalf
<br />of the Erskine Boulevard residents, to conduct their 3rd Annual
<br />Candlelight Walk on Sunday, December 17, 1989, from 5:00 to 9:00
<br />p.m. along the sidewalk on both sides of Erskine Boulevard, from
<br />Ewing Avenue south to Donmoyer. Mr. Wolford stated that the
<br />event will consist of candle luminaries along with the Riley High
<br />School Choir and Pep Band providing Christmas music. They also
<br />plan to have a Santa Claus handing out candy canes. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and
<br />carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City
<br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF MICHIANA WATERSHED, INC. TO CONDUCT ANNUAL RIVER RUN -
<br />MAY 14, 1990 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Nancy Mah, Administrative
<br />Assistant, Michiana Watershed, Inc., St. Joseph County Chapter,
<br />P.O. Box 1284, South Bend, Indiana, advised that on behalf of
<br />Michiana Watershed, Inc., sponsors of the Annual St. Joseph River
<br />Run, she would like to request permission to conduct the 20th
<br />Annual River Run on Saturday, May 14, 1990. Ms. Mah submitted
<br />with the request a brochure from the 1989 River Run and advised
<br />that plans for the 20th Annual River Run will be similar to that
<br />of 1989. She noted that the race will begin in Leeper Park and
<br />end at St. Patrick's Park. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq,
<br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the request was referred
<br />to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and
<br />recommendation.
