242 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 14, 1989 <br />REQUEST OF AGAPE MISSIONARY CHURCH TO CLOSE BRYAN STREET BETWEEN <br />SHERMAN AND INGLEWOOD IN CONJUNCTION WITH COUNTRY GOSPEL CONCERT <br />AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL - SEPTEMBER 17, 1989 - REFERRED <br />An Application For Use Of And Blocking Of Access To Public <br />Right -Of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event was submitted to the <br />Board by Ms. Leona McGregor, Coordinator, Agape Missionary <br />Church, 1003 Bryan Street, South Bend, Indiana, requesting <br />permission to close Bryan Street between Sherman and Inglewood, <br />on September 17, 1989 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in <br />conjunction with Country Gospel Concert and Ice Cream Social. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate „City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF A.B.A.T.E. OF INDIANA TO CONDUCT MOTORCYCLE RIDE FOR <br />MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY - SEPTEMBER 3, 1989 - REFERRED <br />Mr. Danny Dunn, Director, Region 1 A.B.A.T.E., 1618 Leer Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that on Sunday, September 3, 1989 <br />A.B.A.T.E. of Indiana, Region 1, is sponsoring a benefit <br />motorcycle ride for Muscular Dystrophy. <br />In order to make the ride safe for both participants and <br />spectators, Mr. Dunn requested the assistance of the South Bend <br />Police Department, Civil Defense Police and the St. Joseph County <br />Weather Watch in monitoring the twenty-six (26) intersections <br />within the City of South Bend that will be utilized for this <br />event. It was noted that traffic assistance will also be <br />requested of the Indiana State Police and the St. Joseph County <br />Police for traffic assistance with the intersections within their <br />respective jurisdictions. <br />Mr. Dunn further advised that the ride will begin at the <br />Crumstown Conservation Club at 12:00 noon along the route <br />submitted with the request. He stated that in 1988, over five <br />hundred (500) motorcycles participated in the St. Joseph County <br />ride and such rides throughout the State raised over $100,000.00 <br />for MDA. <br />Therefore upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER INC FOR RESERVED <br />PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF 100 E. WASHINGTON STREET IN CONJUNCTION <br />WITH RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER LUNCHEON AT THE SOUTH BEND MARRIOTT <br />- AUGUST 23. 1989 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above referred to request, which <br />was received by the Board on August 7, 1989, has been reviewed by <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division and is recommended for approval. Therefore, <br />upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SPIRITUAL ISRAEL CHURCH & ITS ARMY TO CLOSE <br />WASHINGTON STREET, FROM FALCON TO KENMORE, FOR BLOCK PARTY IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH FUN FESTIVAL - AUGUST 19 1989 - <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above referred to request, which <br />was received by the Board on August 7, 1989, has been reviewed by <br />the appropriate City departments and bureaus and is recommended <br />for approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, <br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was <br />accepted and the request approved. <br />
