<br />requesting that the 1000 block of Woodward Avenue, from Golden to
<br />Vassar, be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June
<br />11, 1989, for a block party. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request
<br />was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for
<br />review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE HUEY, FROM LINDEN TO SMITH, FOR BLOCK PARTY -
<br />JUNE 10-11, 1989 - REFERRED
<br />Mr. Charles Burks, 319 North Huey Street, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />submitted to the Board an Application For Use Of And Blocking Of
<br />Access To.Public Right -Of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event
<br />requesting that Huey Street, from Linden to Smith, be closed from
<br />6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 1989 and from 12:00
<br />noon until 12:00 midnight on Sunday, June 11, 1989 for a block
<br />party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
<br />-DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate
<br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF HOLY CROSS PARISH TO CLOSE VASSAR AVENUE, BETWEEN
<br />LAWNDALE AND WILBER, IN CONJUNCTION WITH PARISH PICNIC - JUNE 18,
<br />1989 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Rev. Don Dilg, C.S.C., Pastor, Holy
<br />Cross Parish, 1520 Vassar Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, advised
<br />that Holy Cross Parish is planning a Parish Picnic on June 18,
<br />1989. Therefore, it is requested that Vassar Avenue, from
<br />Lawndale to Wilber, be closed off from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
<br />on June 18, 1989. Rev. Dilg stated that the church is planning
<br />on renting park equipment and using the park across the street
<br />(Muessel Grove) for some of their activities. Since small
<br />children will be present, it would be much safer if the street
<br />could be closed. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this request
<br />be submitted to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for
<br />review and recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion and
<br />it carried.
<br />REOUEST OF PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST TO CONDUCT PARADE
<br />- JUNE 24, 1989 - REFERRED
<br />Ms. Mary L. Winters, Director and Ms. Vernell D. Moore,
<br />Supervisor, Moving for Jesus Drill Team of the Pentecostal Church
<br />of God in Christ, 1107 West Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />requested permission to conduct a parade from 12:00 noon until
<br />3:00 p.m. on June 24, 1989, on Chapin Street and West Washington
<br />and Chestnut and West Washington which consists of six (6)
<br />blocks. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
<br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate
<br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - CLEVELAND
<br />AND BRICK ROAD PHASE II PROJECT - LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS
<br />Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering,
<br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for
<br />the Cleveland Road and Brick Road - Phase II Lighting
<br />Improvements Project which completes the City's improvements on
<br />Cleveland and Brick Roads with the inclusion of City -owned
<br />streetlights. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the
<br />request be approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which
<br />carried.
<br />REQUEST OF GREATER ST. JOHN MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH FOR NO
<br />PARKING ON STREETS AROUND THE CHURCH - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Rev. Billy W. Kirk, Pastor and Mr.
<br />Julius O'Neal, Chairman of Official Board, Greater St. John
<br />Missionary Baptist Church, 101 Adams Street, South Bend, Indiana,
