<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by
<br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the recommendation was accepted and
<br />the above named companies approved as qualified City bidders.
<br />DENY REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 709 E. OHIO
<br />STREET
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and
<br />bureaus have reviewed the request submitted to the Board on
<br />September 6, 1988 by Mr. Dick Jones, 715 East Ohio Street, to
<br />purchase the above referred to property. At this time, the
<br />Department of Economic Development recommends that this property
<br />not be sold as it is located in the southeast study area where
<br />the Department of Economic Development is landbanking property.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms.
<br />Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the
<br />request denied.
<br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 309 NORTH
<br />HUEY STREET - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. David Lewis, Jr., 309 North Huey
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the parking space in
<br />front of his residence be designated as a handicapped parking
<br />space. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred
<br />to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department
<br />Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS TO CONDUCT ANNUAL MARCH FOR LIFE -
<br />JANUARY 22, 1989 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Arthur R. Leinen, PGK, Chairman,
<br />March for Life, Knights of Columbus, Santa Maria Council No. 553,
<br />815 South Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested
<br />permission to conduct the annual, "March for Life" on Sunday,
<br />January 22, 1989 at 1:30 p.m.
<br />Mr. Leinen advised that the proposed route is as follows:
<br />Begin at the Knights of Columbus parking lot at
<br />815 North Michigan Street, proceed west on Bartlett
<br />to Lafayette then south on Lafayette to Wayne Street,
<br />then west on Wayne Street to Taylor Street and then
<br />crossing Taylor to St. Patrick's Church.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq
<br />and carried, the above request was referred to the appropriate
<br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1113 BURNS STREET -
<br />REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Elvis Willis, 302 Napoleon
<br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, advised that he is the owner of
<br />Lot 77 Hartman and Millers Plat and would like to purchase
<br />City -owned Lot 78 Hartman and Millers Plat known at 1113 Burns
<br />Street. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred
<br />to the appropriate City departments and bureaus in order that a
<br />determination can be made whether the City need retain this
<br />property for any reason.
