REGULAR MEETING MAY 21, 1990 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:31 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 1990, by Board President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq and <br />Ms. Katherine Humphreys present. Also present was Assistant City <br />Attorney Jenny Pitts Manier. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the minutes of the May 14, 1990,.regular meeting of <br />the Board were approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING AND FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - ALLEY VACATION: 1ST <br />N/S ALLEY N. OF 1ST VACATED E/W ALLEY N. OF NAVARRE (MEMORIAL <br />HOSPITAL) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the <br />Board's Public Hearing on a proposed alley vacation described as <br />follows: <br />The north -south alley north of the 1st vacated <br />east -west alley north of Navarre Street between <br />North Michigan Street and vacated North Main Street, <br />running north to the 2nd vacated east -west alley <br />north of Navarre Street between North Michigan <br />Street and vacated North Main Street, for a <br />distance of approximately 180 feet by 14 feet and <br />lying between and along all of the west side of <br />Lots 10, 11, and 12 of Bartlett's First Addition <br />to City of South Bend and all of the east side of <br />Lots 23, 24 and 25 of Bartlett's First Addition to <br />the City of South Bend. <br />It was noted that this Public Hearing is being held in order for <br />the Board to submit a recommendation to the Common Council <br />concerning the Vacation Petition filed by Mr. Rick Annis, Sr., <br />Vice -President and Chief Financial Officer, Memorial Hospital of <br />South Bend, IN, 615 North Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />with Mr. Bruce C. Hammerschmidt, Hammerschmidt, Bonewitz, Amaral <br />& Jonas, 224 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, <br />indicated as Contact Person. <br />Mr. Richard Bonewitz was present on behalf of Memorial Hospital <br />and advised that the proposed alley to be vacated is a portion of <br />the north/south alley between Navarre & Bartlett and between <br />Michigan & Main Street. He noted that the north and south <br />portions of the alley were vacated but through an obvious <br />oversight the middle of the alley was not included in that <br />vacation. Therefore, the Vacation Petition as submitted is to <br />vacate the middle of that alley. <br />There being no one else present wishing to speak either for or <br />against the proposed alley vacation, and no written objections <br />having been filed with the Board, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the Public <br />Hearing on this matter was closed. <br />Further, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that a favorable <br />recommendation regarding this Vacation Petition be forwarded to <br />the Common Council, subject to any and all utility easements. <br />Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 14-1990 - SALE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY - 1629 <br />SOUTH WILLIAM STREET <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the following Resolution No. 14-1990 was adopted: <br />
