REGULAR MEETING APRIL 23, 1990 <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION FOR <br />REDUCED PARKING RATE - COLFAX PARKING GARAGE <br />Ms. Katherine Humphreys, Director, Administration and Finance, <br />advised that Dr. James Ashley, Director of Special Programs, <br />South Bend Community School Corporation, 635 South Main Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that on May 15, 1990 the School <br />Corporation will be holding its annual "Achievers All" ceremony <br />at the Morris Civic Auditorium. Therefore, it is being requested <br />that the parking rate for the Colfax parking garage be reduced to <br />$1.00 in conjunction with this event which will take place from <br />7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Morris Civic. Ms. Humphreys made a <br />motion that the request be approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES - REFERRED: <br />- 1116 BIRNER STREET <br />- 709 ALTGELD STREET <br />Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rogers, 1116 Birner Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />advised that they have a handicapped daughter and would like the <br />parking space in front of their residence designated as a <br />handicapped parking space. <br />Additionally, Mrs. Goldie Ivarson, 709 Altgeld, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised that her husband, Hans, is handicapped and they <br />would request that the parking space in front of their house be <br />designated as a handicapped parking space. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that these requests be referred to <br />the appropriate City Departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS: <br />- OF FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE FOR PARKING RESTRICTIONS - MAY 15 <br />1990 <br />- OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT MEMORIAL DAY PARADE <br />- MAY 28, 1990 <br />- OF MADISON HOME SCHOOL ORGANIZATION TO CLOSE PARK AVENUE - MAY <br />18, 1990 <br />- OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY MEMORIAL SOCIETY TO CLOSE WASHINGTON <br />STREET - MAY 28, 1990 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to requests which were <br />submitted to the Board on April 9, 1990 and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />request of the Fraternal Order of Police and the. West Side <br />Memorial Committee be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the <br />motion which carried. Additionally, Ms. Humphreys made a motion <br />that the request of the Madison Home School Organization and the <br />St. Joseph County Memorial Society be approved. Mrs. DeClercq <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, Certificates of Insurance submitted for the <br />following were accepted and filed: <br />1. Bethel College, Inc. <br />1001 West McKinley <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />2. William A. Geyer & David L. Geyer, d/b/a <br />Geyer Construction & Development Co. <br />and William A.
