53 <br />REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 12, 1990 <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the above bids be referred to <br />the Department of Code Enforcement for review and <br />recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - UP TO TWENTY (20) NEW VEHICLES FOR THE 1990 POLICE <br />VEHICLE FLEET <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak has <br />requested that the Board accept the bid of Gates Chevrolet <br />Corporation, 401 South Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, <br />for up to twenty (20) Chevrolet Caprice Police Package four -door <br />sedans, Model 1BL69. <br />Chief Marciniak indicated that the net price of $12,595.00 per <br />unit was the only offer received on January 22, 1990. The units <br />and price meet the specifications and requirements for the Police <br />Department's uniform squad cars. The only exception to the <br />specifications was the offer of a six (6) inch rather than a five <br />(5) inch spotlight. This exception is acceptable and will pose <br />no problems in the acceptance of the offer. Chief Marciniak <br />noted that the bid of Gates Chevrolet indicated that no orders <br />can be assured after February 23, 1990. Therefore, Chief <br />Marciniak requested the Board's prompt attention to this matter. <br />Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the recommendation be accepted <br />and the bid of Gates Chevrolet as submitted on January 22, 1990, <br />be awarded. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF LESSEE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that submitted to the Board today is an <br />Acknowledgement of Lessee which indicates that MNC Leasing <br />Corporation has assigned to Ford Motor Credit Company all of its <br />rights, title, interest and obligations in regards to the <br />Equipment Lease/Purchase Agreement dated December 4, 1989 between <br />the City and MNC Leasing. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the referred to Equipment <br />Lease/Purchase Agreement is for twelve (12) leaf vacuums <br />purchased by the City and financed through MNC Leasing. Mrs. <br />DeClercq made a motion that the Acknowledgment of Lessee be <br />approved and executed. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />REQUEST OF CITY AWNING OF SOUTH BEND TO ERECT FIFTEEN (15) <br />CANOPIES ON BUILDING AT 209 NORTH MAIN STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Hank Craft, Sales Representative, <br />City Awning of South Bend, 1835 South Franklin Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requested permission to erect fifteen (15) <br />canopies on the building at 209 North Main Street known as Main <br />Street Row. Mr. Leszczynski noted that this is the "old <br />Christman Building" and made a motion that the request be <br />referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - SOUTH BEND <br />WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING ADDITION <br />Mr. Leszczynski, Director, Public Works, advised that the <br />Department of Public Works is requesting that the Board advertise <br />for the receipt of bids for an addition to the Administration <br />Building at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. He advised that the <br />improvements will connect the lab and administrative offices <br />while providing badly needed office space. Mr. Leszczynski made <br />a motion that the request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />
