ORDINANCE NO. <br />BILL NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, SETTING THE ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2017 <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The South Bend Common Council is required to fix the annual compensation of elected city <br />officers. Indiana Code § 36 -4 -7 -2 authorizes the legislative body to carry out these <br />responsibilities. <br />This ordinance proposes a two percent (2 %) maximum increase for calendar year 2017 for the <br />nine - member Common Council. <br />i <br />Section I. The maximum salaries for the members of the South Bend Common Council for the <br />2017 calendar years shall be established as follows, which reflects a maximum 2% increase over <br />the 2016 maximum rate: <br />2016 2017 <br />$ 18,658 $19,030 <br />Section II.
