REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 21, 1992 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:32 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 1992, by Board President John <br />E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. James R. Caldwell and <br />Mrs. Mary H. Mueller present. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and <br />carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held on <br />December 14, 1992, were approved. <br />APPROVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND TEAMSTERS <br />LOCAL UNION NO. 364 AND SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of an <br />Agreement between the City and the Teamsters Local Union No. 364 <br />plus Supplemental Agreements involving the following: <br />- Bureau of Building Maintenance <br />- Bureau of Cemeteries <br />- Century Center <br />- Division of Equipment Services <br />- Departent of Parks and Recretation <br />- Police Department <br />- Bureau of Sewers <br />- Bureau of Solid Waste <br />- Bureau of Streets <br />- Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />- Bureau of Wastewater <br />- Bureau of Water Works <br />Mrs. Kathy Cekanski-Farrand was present and addressed the Board. <br />Mrs. Cekanski-advised that this document is the result of many <br />months of hard work and negotiations and this agreement has been <br />reached between the City of South Bend and the Teamsters. Ms. <br />Cekanski-Farrand gave credit to the negotiating team. She stated <br />that this is a good working agreement and believes it is the best <br />that we could have. <br />Mayor Joseph E. Kernan was present and addressed the Board. <br />Mayor Kernan wanted to thank all the people who worked very hard, <br />including Councilman Ann Puzzello, for her leadership from the <br />Council and other members of the negotiating team. <br />Mr. Bob Schultz was present and addressed the Board. He stated <br />it was not an easy negotiation, but was fair and a good spirit of <br />negotiation. <br />Councilman Ann Puzzello was present and addressed the Board. She <br />wanted to thank the members of the negotiating team and believed <br />this was done in a cooperative fashion and in respect of City <br />employees. <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Agreement and <br />Supplements as submitted be approved and executed. Mrs. Mueller <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the sale of approximately fifteen (15) abandoned vehicles <br />which have been stored at Super Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 <br />South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient.
