<br />advised that after review of the bids for the renovation and
<br />expansion of the Department of Sanitation's garage, received and
<br />opened by the Board on August 10, 1992, he recommends that the
<br />Board award the low base bid of Gibson -Lewis, Inc., 1001 West
<br />llth Street, Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of $482,800.00.
<br />Mr. Dillon noted that it is anticipated that a Change Order will
<br />be submitted which will reduce the cost to approximately
<br />$455,000.00. Funding for this project will come from the balance
<br />of funds in the Department of Sanitation Depreciation Budget and
<br />an additional appropriation of less than $90,000.00 from the
<br />Sewage Works Depreciation Fund.
<br />Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the recommendation be accepted
<br />and the bid be awarded. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which
<br />carried.
<br />AWARD BID - FOUR (4) 1/2 TON PICK-UP TRUCKS
<br />Mr. Matthew L. Chlebowski, Interim Director, Division of
<br />Equipment Services, recommended that the Board award the low bid
<br />of Gates Chevrolet Corporation, 401 South Lafayette Boulevard,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, for four (4) one-half (1/2) ton pick-up
<br />trucks, in the amount of $9,683.58 each for a total bid award of
<br />$38,734.32. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the
<br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded. Mr. Caldwell
<br />seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - THREE (3),
<br />MORE OR LESS, USED FOUR (4) DOOR SEDAN AUTOMOBILES
<br />Fire Chief Luther Taylor has requested that the Board advertise
<br />for the receipt of bids for three (3) more or less, used four (4)
<br />door sedan automobiles. Chief Taylor advised that the method of
<br />payment for these vehicles will be from the Emergency Medical
<br />Capital Improvement Fund. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the
<br />request be approved. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which
<br />carried.

<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Gladys Muhammad, Community
<br />Organizer, 914 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, advised that
<br />recently I.U.S.B. hired two (2) dancers from Germany in their
<br />Fine Arts Department. These dancers are in the process of
<br />developing a -dance performance on November 14, 1992 at I.U. As a
<br />part of their promotion they would like to photograph the dancers
<br />and the cast on a street in a neighborhood setting. They would
<br />like to take the photograph on Saturday, October 17, 1992, in the
<br />1200 block of West Washington Street and therefore would like
<br />Washington Street closed, from Maple to Walnut, on this date from
<br />2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. In case of rain the session is scheduled
<br />for Sunday, October 18, 1992. It is noted that the appropriate
<br />City departments and bureaus have reviewed this request and
<br />recommend approval.
<br />Additionally; Mr. Jerry R. Bolin, Sue's Auction Service, 68697
<br />Kenilworth Road, Lakeville, Indiana, advised that on Saturday,
<br />October 17, 1992, or in case of rain Sunday, October 18, 1992,
<br />they will be conducting a public auction at the residence of
<br />Herbert and Virginia McIntosh at 722 Ironwood Street, which is
<br />located just North of Mishawaka Avenue. Due to the small lawn
<br />area and the large amount of items to be sold, they are
<br />requesting that a portion of the alley directly behind the
<br />residence be blocked off to help accommodate this sale. Again,
