REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 13, 1992 <br />EXCAVATION BONDS <br />- Chuck & Sons Plumbing & <br />Heating <br />60390 South Main Street <br />South Bend, Indiana Release Eff. 5-26-93 <br />Chuck & Sons Plumbing & <br />Heating <br />60390 South Main Street <br />South Bend, Indiana Approve Eff. 7-13-92 <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Mueller, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the Contractors and Excavation Bonds were approved <br />and/or released as recommended. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Board is in receipt of two (2) <br />lists as submitted by the Department of Code Enforcement <br />indicating that one hundred sixty-five (165) miscellaneous <br />properties were cleaned by the Department from June 21, 1992 to <br />June 29, 1992. <br />Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the lists be accepted for <br />filing. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Deputy Controllers Office has <br />submitted claims in the amount of $1,035.084.22 and recommended <br />approval. <br />Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the claims be approved <br />and the lists be filed. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR <br />QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS REGARDING DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURE AT 121 <br />SPRUCE STREET <br />Mr. Jim Cronk, 702 East LaSalle Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />addressed the Board and advised that he purchased the house at <br />121 Spruce Street which has recently been demolished by the City <br />of South Bend. <br />Mr. Cronk stated that during the demolition process six (6) <br />sections of the sidewalk were broken and the contractor filled <br />the basement with concrete sections. He stated that he wants <br />those concrete sections totally removed so he can rebuild the <br />structure. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised Mr. Cronk that the matter to which he is <br />referring to is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Code <br />Enforcement and that the Board of Public Works is not involved in <br />this matter. <br />Board Attorney and Member Mary H. Mueller informed Mr. Cronk that <br />if the contractor did break up the sidewalk the City has the Bond <br />of the contractor which it may go against for the repairs. Mr. <br />Cronk inquired when there would be a Public Hearing on this <br />matter. Mrs. Mueller advised that it was during a Public Hearing <br />that the property was ordered demolished and bids for the <br />demolition were opened at a Public meeting by the Department of <br />Code Enforcement. <br />
