Mr. Caldwell seconded <br />REQUEST OF CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE TO CONDUCT OPENING DAY <br />PARADE - MAY 2, 1992 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Georgia Campbell, President, Chet <br />Waggoner Little League, 1846 North Huey Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, requested permission to conduct its Annual Opening Day <br />Parade on Saturday, May 2, 1992. The route to be utilized is as <br />follows: <br />Begin at Coveleski Stadium west parking lot, proceed <br />North on Taylor Street to Washington Street, east on <br />Washington to William Street, north on William to Portage <br />Avenue, north on Portage to Boland Drive, east on Boland <br />to Riverside Drive, north on Riverside to the Chet Waggoner <br />Park entrance which is located at the rear of the St. Joseph <br />County Highway Garage at 3301 Riverside Drive. <br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this request be referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF TURNER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY TO OCCUPY THE <br />PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY ON WASHINGTON STREET IN FRONT OF VALLEY <br />AMERICAN BANK <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that on March 2, 1992, Ms. Mae Keshavarz, <br />Assistant Engineer, Turner Construction Company, 230 South <br />LaSalle Street, Chicago, Illinois, submitted an application for a <br />permit allowing temporary use of the public right-of-way for the <br />installation of a sidewalk bridge and pedestrian walkway adjacent <br />to the Valley American Bank Building for a period of two (2) to <br />three (3) months. <br />It is noted that this request has been reviewed by the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mrs. Mueller made a motion that the <br />request be approved subject to the Contractor providing to the <br />City a Bond in the amount of $50,000.00 and a Certificate of <br />Insurance, naming the City of South Bend as additional insured in <br />the amounts of $300,000.00 per occurance and $5,000,000.00 <br />aggregate. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE PAYMENT REOUISITION AND CERTIFICATE FOR PAYMENT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a South <br />Bend Redevelopment Authority Parking Garage Facility Construction <br />Fund Payment Requisition and Certificate for Payment of the Board <br />of Public Works. <br />It is noted that this is Certificate No. 24 and indicates that <br />the Payee is Kaser-Spraker Construction, Inc., P.O. Box 3605, <br />South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $25,325.00 for the St. <br />Joseph/Wayne Street Parking Garage Additional Metal Security <br />Screen Project. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the Certificate <br />be approved and executed. Mrs. Mueller seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Engineering Department has <br />recommended that Contractor's Bond for Jimmie Poindexter be <br />approved effective March 23, 1992. Therefore, upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Mueller and carried, the <br />above bond was approved. <br />
