REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 28 1994 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:32 a.m. on Monday, <br />November 28, 1994, by Board President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. James R. <br />Caldwell and Mrs. Jenny Pitts Manier present. Also present was Board Attorney Anne Bruneel. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the minutes of the <br />regular meeting of the Board held on November 21, 1994, were approved. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, an agenda item to <br />approve a Purchase Agreement with IBM was added. <br />PUBLIC HEARING FOR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY - 504 NORTH JOHNSON STREET - <br />NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERSHIP CENTER - RESOLUTION NO 42 1994 <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that today was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing regarding the Lease <br />of Real Property at 504 North Johnson Street for a Neighborhood Partnership Center. Mr. <br />Leszczynski asked that at this time recommendations in support of or in opposition to the issuance <br />of the Lease Agreement would be heard. Mr. John Broden, City Attorney's Office, was present and <br />stated that this lease is for a one year, effective January 1, 1995, through December 31, 1995, and <br />recommended approval from the Board. <br />There being no one to address the Board in opposition to the Lease Agreement, Mr. Leszczynski <br />inquired of the Board if they had any comments or discussion. There being no further discussion, <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion to approve the Lease Agreement. Mr. Caldwell seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - DE-ICING MATERIALS <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. It was noted that Morton Salt International, 100 N. Riverside <br />Plaza, Chicago, Illinois, declined to bid at this time. The following bids were opened and publicly <br />read: <br />AKZO NOBEL SALT INC. <br />Post Office Box 352 <br />Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania <br />Bid was signed by Mr. Allan Bonnel, Manager - Highway Bidding & Marketing <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed <br />Ten per cent (10%) Bid Bond was submitted <br />B <br />12,000 Tons Bulk Ice Control Rock Salt <br />Truck Delivery <br />Minimum Truckload - 21 tons <br />Terms of Payment - 30 days from shipment <br />Bulk rock salt will be treated with an anti -caking agent <br />Rock salt is mined in the U.S.A. by American labor <br />We will protect our quoted price on deliveries prior to and <br />including 10/31 /95 if accepted within 60 days from bid <br />opening date of 11/28/94. <br />Unit Price <br />$37.25/Ton <br />Amount <br />$447,000.00 <br />
