REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 21,1994
floor redone; 4) door latches broken; 5) squad bench too high 6) no insulation in conversion; just to
mention a few. Construction features are not the same and clarifications furnished at time of
proposal are not stated. Various conversations with Southern have raised questions and concerns
with the ambulance. They state their normal construction and what they are willing to do to meet
specifications. The Fire Department believes that an ambulance built should be a normal type
conversion for the company and not "we can do it".
The bid of $112,340.00 from Excellance, Inc., 453 Lanier Road, Madison, Alabama, was the hig
bid, and the bid of $99,968.00 as an alternate does not meet specifications in many areas. The Fir
Department feels that its specifications will give the City of South Bend the ambulance that will _
service the citizens with the comfort and service they expect.
Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded
as outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried.
October 10, 1994. Mr. Chlebowski stated that the trade-in amount of $7,300.00 was incorrect. The
correct trade-in amount is $3,500.00, bringing the net total to $72,000.00, instead of $68,200.00 as
stated in the bid award. It should be noted that this increase does not change the order of bids.
Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion to approve the correction. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion
which carried.
