REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 7, 1994 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:40 a.m. on Monday, <br />November 7, 1994, by Board President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mrs. Jenny <br />Pitts Manier present. Mr. James R. Caldwell was not present. Also present was Board Attorney <br />Anne Bruneel. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, an Agenda item <br />for Approval of Construction Contract was added. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the minutes of the <br />regular meeting of the Board held on October 31, 1994, were approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - APPLICATION FOR TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - ELI'S <br />BRIDAL SHOP <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that today was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing regarding the <br />license application for a Transient Merchants license for Elinor L. Tyl, d/b/a Eli's Bridal Shop, 742 <br />S. Eddy, South Bend, Indiana. It is noted that Ms. Tyl has applied for this license in order to conduct <br />a Kris Kringle Craft Show, at Union Station, 310 W. South Street, South Bend, Indiana, on Sunday, <br />November 27, 1994, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. <br />Ms. Tyl was present, and informed the Board that this year, the craft show will consist of ninety (90) <br />booths and one hundred fifty (150) crafters. Further, Ms. Tyl is organizing the craft show. <br />There being no one else to address the Board concerning this matter and no written Memorandum <br />in support of or in opposition to the issuance of the license being received, Mrs. Manier made a <br />motion that the application be referred to the Deputy City Controller's office for issuance of a <br />license. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - ONE (1) GPM PUMPER - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />PIERCE MANUFACTURING. INC. <br />2600 American Drive <br />Appleton, Wisconsin 54915 <br />Bid was signed by Mr. Tom Frederick <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed <br />Ten per cent (10%) Bid Bond was submitted <br />BID: $215,038.78 - Pierce Custom Triple Combination Class "A" Fire Fighting Apparatus <br />mounted on a Pierce Custom Chassis as per proposal. <br />Note: If customer will pay for chassis ($108,708.13) 90 days prior to the scheduled <br />completion date of the apparatus, deduct $4,181.08 <br />Delivery of above "A" will be approximately 210-250 days after acceptance of contract by <br />Pierce. The amount named in this bid is made with the understanding that same will be <br />accepted by City of South Bend within thirty (30) days from date of same. Should <br />acceptance be delayed beyond said period, an extension may be granted upon request, if <br />possible. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above bid was <br />referred to the Fire Department for review and recommendation. <br />
