Crawford, 513 Birdsell Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, submitted to the Board an Application For Use Of And <br />Blocking Of Access To Public Right -of -Way For A Party Or <br />Similar Event, requesting that Birdsell, from Fassnacht to <br />the alley, be closed from 12:00 noon to 7:30 p.m. on <br />Saturday, August 27, 1994 for the 500 Club Block Party to <br />welcome new members. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS: <br />OF SLICE OF LIFE TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A FLORAL GARDEN ON <br />THE N.W. CORNER OF WESTERN AVENUE AND CHAPIN STREET <br />TO CLOSE NAVARRE STREET, FROM PORTAGE TO LELAND, FOR NATIONAL <br />NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME EVENT - AUGUST 2 1994 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the request of Slice of Life, <br />submitted to the Board on May 16, 1994, and the request to close <br />Navarre Street, submitted to the Board on July 18, 1994, have been <br />reviewed by the appropriate City departments and bureaus and <br />approval is recommended. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion <br />that the recommendations be accepted and the requests be approved. <br />Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND <br />NECESSITY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of an <br />Application for Certificate of Public Convenience as submitted by <br />Walter and Patricia Jones, 5019 Bloomfield Place, South Bend, <br />Indiana, to operate a taxi service. <br />Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the application of Mr. <br />and Mrs. Jones be accepted for filing and that a Public Hearing be <br />scheduled, at which time, the Board will hear from the Jones' <br />concerning this application. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />APPROVE RELEASE OF CONTRACTORS BOND <br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Division of Engineering, recommended that <br />the Bond of Contractor for John Armstead be released effective <br />August 1, 1994. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that this <br />recommendation be accepted and the bond be released. Mrs. Manier <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried-, a Certificate of Insurance for Marvin A.
