REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 13, 1994
submitted a lump sum bid and failed to provide unit prices for
each item and was therefore not considered for recommendation.
Therefore, Mr. Littrell recommended that the Board award the low
bid of Ziolkowski Construction, Inc., P.O. Box 1106, South Bend,
Indiana, in the amount of $43,409.85. Mr. Littrell noted that the
Department of Community and Economic Development concurs with this
recommendation.
Additionally, Mr. Littrell advised that on May 23, 1994, the Board
opened four (4) bids for the Stephenson Mill Apartments Site
Development Project. Mr. Littrell noted that he has reviewed the
bids and found the amounts correct as read at the Board meeting.
One of the bidders, Small, Inc., placed qualifications on the bid.
However, Mr. Littrell found that the qualifications were still
responsive to the specifications and did not alter the work the
specifications were intended to construct. Therefore, Mr.
Littrell recommended that the Board award the lowest bid submitted
by HRP Construction, Inc., P.O. Box 266, South Bend, Indiana, in
the amount of $216,264.00. It is noted that the Department of
Community and Economic Development concurs with this
recommendation.
Mr. George S. Zana, Purchasing Manager, Division of Equipment
Services, advised members of the Board that based on the review of
bids received on July 6, 1994, for paint supplies, he recommends
that the Board award the bid of Sherwin Williams Company, 1220
South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $6,639.08
for the fifty-eight (58) items they bid. The four (4) items not
bid are covered by substitutable products in the items bid. The
only other bidder was C.E. Lee Company with a bid of $8,459.40 for
all sixty-two (62) items. Eliminating the four (4) items not bid
by Sherwin Williams, a comparative amount is $8,313.00 for the
fifty-eight (58) items awarded.
Finally, Mr. Matthew L. Chlebowski, Director, Division of
Equipment Services, recommended that the Board award the low bid
of Industrial Construction Equipment Company, 25166 West State
Road #2, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $9,115.00 for one
(1) 185 CFM Ingersoll-Rand Air Compressor for use by the City
Street Department. Bids for this Compressor were opened by the
Board on May 2, 1994.
