REGULAR MEETING JUNE 13, 1994 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:47 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 1994, by Board President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. James R. Caldwell present. Board Member Mrs. Jenny Pitts Manier was not in attendance. Also present was Board Attorney Anne Bruneel. APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS Upon a',motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held on June 6, 1994, were approved as submitted. OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1711 AND 1713 MARIETTA STREET Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids for the purchase of City - owned property commonly known as 1711'and 1713 Marietta Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice which appeared in theSouth Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News. It was noted that these parcels of property have been appraised. The property at 1711 Marietta Street has been appraised at $300.00. The property at 1713 Marietta has been appraised at $100.O9. The following bid was opened and read: MSS. Sandra L. Pfaller 634 East Dubail South Bend, Indiana BID: 1711 Marietta Street $310.00 1713 Marietta Street $110.00 It was further noted that Ms. Pfaller is an adjacent property owner. There being no other bids received, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the bids submitted by Ms. Pfaller be accepted. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. PUBLICIHEARING AND APPROVAL OF TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - SCOTT ALLEN gALHOON D/B/A F & S FIREWORKS Mr. Le zczynski stated that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing regarding the license application for a Transient Merchant license for Mr. Scott Allen Calhoon, 1130 Beale Street, South Bend, Indiana, d/b/a F & S Fireworks, 3006 Ardmore Trail, South Bend, Indiana. It is rioted that Mr. Calhoon has applied for this license in order to sell fireworks from June 17, 1994 to July 5, 1994 at 3006 Ardmore Trail, South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Calhoon was present and advised that he intends to sell only legal Indiana fireworks at his business. There being no one else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter and no written Memorandum in support of or in opposition to the issuance of the license being received, Mr. Leszcz�nski closed the Public Hearing on this matter. Member of the Board were advised that favorable recommendations concerning this license application have been received from the Police Department, Fire Department and the Building Department. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the application be approv;d and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for issuance of a license. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. 1 1
