Wiff <br />MEETING <br />MAY 16, 1994 <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - VACATION PETI'. <br />: 1ST E/W _ALLEY S. O: <br />E. PLEASANT STREET <br />Mr. L szczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to <br />the Board a Vacation Petition as completed by Lawrence E. Prout, <br />1218 South 27th Street, South Bend, Indiana, to vacate the <br />following alley: <br />he first east/west alley south of E. Pleasant Street from <br />he east right-of-way line of S. Twenty-seventh Street to the <br />est right-of-way line of the first intersecting north/south <br />lley east of S. Twenty-seventh Street for a distance of <br />pproximately 155 feet and a width of approximately 14 feet. <br />art located in Twin City Realty Subdivision of Lot C in the <br />ity of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Police <br />Department, Fire Department, Division of Engineering, Division of <br />Environmental Services, Department of Community and Economic <br />Development and the Area Plan Commission. Therefore, Mr. <br />Leszc ynski made a motion that the Board send a favorable <br />recommendation to the Common Council concerning this Vacation <br />Petition. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS <br />UNKER BOOTS HELMETS GLOVES <br />ANEY STREET SIDEWALK CURB AND APPROACH REPAIRS - SOUTHEAST <br />ARTNERSHIP CENTER SERVICE AREA <br />Fire hief Luther Taylor requested that the Board advertise for <br />the r ceipt of bids for two hundred fifteen (215), more or -less, <br />of each of the following: <br />Firefighter Lug Sole Insulated Bunker Boots (pairs) <br />Firefighter Helmets <br />Firefighter Gloves (pairs) <br />Chief Taylor noted that the method of funding will be from the <br />Emergency Medical Services Capital Improvement Fund. <br />Additionally, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of <br />Engineering, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of <br />bids for the Haney Street Sidewalk, Curb and Approach Repairs <br />Project - Southeast Partnership Center Service Area. Mr. Littrell <br />noted that the specifications for this project are being prepared <br />by the Division of Engineering. <br />Mr. Lelszczynski made a motion that both of these requests be <br />approv d. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BIDS/REJECT BIDS/APPROVE REQUEST TO READVERTISE FOR THE <br />RECEIPr OF BIDS - PAINT AND PAINT SUPPLIES <br />Mr. Ge rge Zana, Purchasing Manager, Division of Equipment <br />Servic s, advised that based on a review of the bids submitted on <br />April 18, 1994, for paint and paint supplies, the following <br />recomm ndations are made: <br />Reject Items 1 through 61 and Item 63 and rebid. The <br />offer for bids was made on a divisible basis. Awarding <br />these items on a divisible basis would result in <br />confusion to the user departments. A product such as a <br />paint roller or paint brush would result in purchasing <br />different sizes or grades of the same product from <br />different vendors. It could potentially allow a <br />department to favor a vendor by selectively purchasing <br />certain sizes or quality of products. <br />1 <br />
