<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the Contract was
<br />approved and executed.
<br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 - ASBESTOS ABATEMENT - CHAPIN STREET/WEST
<br />WASHINGTON STREET
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Clean Air Systems, Inc., 23349 State
<br />Road 23 West, South Bend, Indiana, has submitted Change Order No. 1
<br />indicating that the Contract amount be increased by $650.00 for a
<br />new Contract sum, including this Change Order, in the amount of
<br />$12,487.'00. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski and carried, the Change Order was approved.
<br />AWARD BIDS - CHEMICALS WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
<br />Mr. Robert Toppel, Division of Environmental Services, advised the
<br />Board that the Division has reviewed the bids received on March 28,
<br />1994, for chlorine and sulfur dioxide. Based on that review, Mr.
<br />Toppel recommends that the Board award the low bids of K.A. Steel
<br />Chemicals, Inc., 15185 Main Street, Lemont, Illinois, in the amount
<br />of $329.50 per ton for chlorine and the bid of Alexander Chemical
<br />Corporation, One Corporate Lakes, 2525 Cabot Drive, Lisle, Illinois,
<br />in the amount of $385.00 per ton for sulfur dioxide. Mrs. Manier
<br />made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bids be
<br />awarded as recommended. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which
<br />carried.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - WILLIAM
<br />RICHARDSON COURT
<br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering, requested that the Board advertise for the
<br />receipt of bids for the William Richardson Court Project. Mr.
<br />Littrell noted that specifications for this project are being
<br />prepared by Pierce & Associates for the Department of Community and
<br />Economic Development. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that this
<br />request be approved. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion which carried.
<br />REQUESTS REFERRED:
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and
<br />carried, the following requests were referred to the appropriate
<br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation:
<br />OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY
<br />PARADE - MAY 30, 1994
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Adeline Jaskowiak, Secretary, West
<br />Side Memorial Committee, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the
<br />Committee requests permission to conduct the annual Memorial Day
<br />Parade on Monday, May 30, 1994. It was noted that the parade
<br />will assemble at 7:45 a.m. on that date at Olive and Ford
<br />Streets. The parade will move out at 8:30 a.m. and proceed west
<br />on Ford Street past Pierre Navarre School to disband at Summit
<br />Drive. The time of the parade from start to finish will be
<br />approximately one and one-half hours.
<br />OF FOREST SIGN & DISPLAY INC. TO REPLACE SIGN AT 2524 SOUTH
<br />MICHIGAN STREET
<br />Mr. Brian K. Jesswein, Vice -President Sales, Forest Sign &
<br />Display, Inc., 2729 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />requested permission to replace an existing sign at Don Nagy
<br />Motors, 2524 South Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, with a
<br />new sign that measures seven feet (71) by seven feet (71)
<br />pursuant to the sketch that was submitted with the request. It
<br />is noted that this sign will encroach into the public right-of-
<br />way.
