\J J 181 <br />REGULAR MEETING APRIL 18, 1994 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:35 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 1994, by Board President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mrs. Jenny Pitts Manier <br />present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Anne Bruneel. <br />Board Member James R. Caldwell was not in attendance. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED/STRICKEN <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and <br />carried, the following items were added and/or stricken from the <br />agenda at this time: <br />ADDED: <br />Letter of Intent - Midwest Bankers Group, Inc. <br />STRICKEN• <br />Guidelines - Public Works Partnership Grants <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held on <br />April 11, 1994, were approved as submitted. <br />PUBLIC HEARING AND FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - TRANSIENT MERCHANT <br />LICENSE - INFANCIA MEXICANA <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's <br />Public Hearing regarding the license application for a Transient <br />Merchants license for Infancia Mexicana, P.O. Box 8042, South <br />Bend, Indiana, by Jesusa Rodriguez, President, 2807 MacArthur, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />It is noted that Mrs. Rodriguez has applied for this license in <br />order to conduct an event called "Cinco DeMayo" at Howard Park, <br />South Bend, Indiana, on Saturday, May 7, 1994, from 8:00 a.m. to <br />6:00 p.m.. <br />Mrs. Jesusa Rodriguez was present and informed the Board that she <br />is the Director and Chairperson of Infancia Mexicana. Mrs. <br />Rodriguez stated that they have held this event in the past and <br />approximately one thousand five hundred (1,500) individuals <br />attended. This year they are asking for this one (1) license in <br />order that the operators of the craft and food booths will not <br />have to apply for individual licenses. She noted that the food <br />booths will serve primarily hispanic food. Mrs. Rodriguez further <br />noted that the event will take place on May 7, 1994 from 8:00 a.m. <br />to 6:00 p.m. at Howard Park. <br />There being no one else present wishing to address the Board <br />concerning this matter and no written Memorandum in support of or <br />in opposition to the issuance of the license being received, Mr. <br />Leszczynski closed the Public Hearing on this matter. <br />It is noted that the Board is in receipt of favorable <br />recommendations concerning this license application from the <br />Police Department, Fire Department and the Building Department. <br />Therefore, Mrs. Manier made a motion that the application be <br />approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office for <br />issuance of a license. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - JANITORIAL SUPPLIES <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids for the following janitorial <br />supplies: <br />
