C:(
REGULAR MEETING
Claim No.: 139
JANUARY 31, 1994
Payee: Ziolkowski Construction
P.O. Box 1106
South Bend, Indiana 46624
Amount: $44,913.00
Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the claims be approved and the
reports as submitted be filed. Mrs. Manier seconded the motion
which carried.
INQUIRY CONCERNING CURB SIDE RECYCLING PROGRAM
Mr. Tom Howell, Reporter, U93 Radio, inquired if the City was
surprised that Superior Waste has announced that they will be
discontinuing their curb side recycling program. Mr. Leszczynski
responded that the City was not surprised as curbside recycling is
an expensive operation and it has been a losing operation for
Superior Waste.
Mr. Leszczynski further stated that the City will be seeking bids
within the next thirty (30) days or so for curbside recycling.
Mr. Leszczynski noted that this would be offered to citizens on a
voluntary basis. Bidders would submit their program for curbside
recycling and the City would choose the lowest cost offered. Mr.
Leszczynski reminded those present that in the meantime there are
still three (3) drop off centers and are accepting recyclables.
He noted that there has been excellent response to the recycling
centers and they garnish more recyclables than curbside pickup.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a
motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and
carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:56 a.m.
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
:!.A
J hHE-
amek.R. eszczyns i
ald ell
enny Pit s Manier
ATT T:
Sandra M.
