<br />DENIAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC -RIGHT-OF-WAY -
<br />SALE OF T-SHIRTS
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that an unfavorable recommendation has been received by the Police
<br />Department, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Robert Cressy, 4900 Francisco, Chicago,
<br />Illinois, to conduct the sales of T-shirts on the public right-of-ways at Ironwood Road and South
<br />Bend Avenue, during all Notre Dame home games, all day. The Police Department stated that the
<br />sales of t-shirts would obstruct the busy Notre Dame traffic, and recommended denial. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was
<br />denied.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO REQUEST PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF WEST
<br />MADISON STREET AND NORTH LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD - TEMPLE BETH-EL
<br />ACTIVITIES
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department,
<br />City Attorney's Office, and Traffic and Lighting, in reference to the request as submitted by Mr.
<br />David Mirkin, President, Temple Beth -El, 305 West Madison Street, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />conduct activities in conjunction with Holy Day Services for Temple Beth El, on Sunday, September
<br />24, 1995, beginning at 8:15 p.m.; Monday, September 25, 1995, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.;
<br />Tuesday, October 3, 1995, beginning at 8:15 p.m.; and Wednesday, October 4, 1995, from 9:00 a.m.
<br />until 6:30 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVE WASTEWATER DISCHARGE PERMITS
<br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Ken Zmudzinski, Pretreatment Coordinator, Division of
<br />Environmental Services, submitted the following Wastewater Discharge Permit and recommended
<br />approval:
<br />1. South Bend Metal Processing
<br />201 South Cherry Street
<br />South Bend, Indiana
<br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the permit was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - RUM VILLAGE
<br />NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERSHIP CENTER AREA - KENDALL STREET PARK - PROJECT
<br />NO.95-26
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Dan Weisel, Division of Engineering, requested permission to
<br />advertise for the sale of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Weisel stated that this project will
<br />clear and grade three (3) lots on Kendall Street for future development of a park, and will also repair
<br />sidewalks and curbs adjacent to the lots.. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded
<br />by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request was approved.
<br />REQUESTS REFERRED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following request
<br />was referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation:
<br />- TO DONATE PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Bruce Reid, President, Reid and Associates, Inc., 1065 Gulfshore
<br />Boulevard, Naples Florida, requests permission to donate property located at 1514 Kendall Street,
<br />South Bend, Key No. 18-8026-1040, Lot #17, to the City of South Bend, as part of the Rum Village
<br />Partnership Center Public Works Project. Mr. Reid stated that this lot is needed as part the park
<br />development, and would like to facilitate the project by donating this lot to the City of South Bend.
