REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER I I.1995 <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - IRRIGATION SYSTEM FOR STUDEBAKER <br />GOLF COURSE AND IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT UPGRADE FOR ERSKINE GOLF COURSE <br />- PROJECT NO. 95-14 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded on July 10, 1995, to Wissco <br />Irrigation, Inc., 1820 South Bend Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $188,475.00 for <br />the above referred to project, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the Contract was <br />approved and the appropriate Certificate of Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials <br />Payment Bond as submitted were filed. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY <br />Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition <br />as completed by Mr. Phillip J. Faccenda, President, South Bend Redevelopment Commission, 1200 <br />County -City Building, South Bend, Indiana to vacate the following alley: <br />the second north -south alley west of South Carroll Street from the north right-of-way line <br />of East Ohio Street north to the dead-end for a distance of approximately 97.5 feet and a <br />width of approximately 14 feet. Part situated in Baker's First Addition to the City of South <br />Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works. Therefore, Mr. <br />Caldwell made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council <br />concerning this Vacation Petition. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. Christine O'Brien, 1029 Hudson Avenue, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred <br />to block party, on Saturday, September 16, 1995, from 4:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m., on Hudson <br />Avenue from Riverside Drive to Woodward Avenue. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - SOUTHEAST <br />PARTNERSHIP CENTER SERVICE AREA - SIDEWALK CURB AND APPROACH REPAIRS - <br />PROJECT NO. 95-11 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Dan Weisel, Division of Engineering, requested permission to <br />advertise for the sale of bids for the above referred to project. Mr. Weisel stated that this project <br />will repair sidewalks, curbs and driveway and alley approaches located in the above referenced area <br />on East Indiana Avenue. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Caldwell and carried, the request was approved. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the following <br />requests were referred to the appropriate Bureaus and Departments for recommendation: <br />- TO CONDUCT "WALK FOR HEALTH AND HUNGER - THE LINKS, INCORPORATED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Myrtle C. Wilson, The Links, Incorporated, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to conduct a "Walk for Health and Hunger", on Saturday, September 30, 1995, <br />from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., along the East Race. <br />- TO PROVIDE PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF WEST MADISON AND NORTH LAFAYETTE <br />BOULEVARD <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. David L. Mirkin, President, Temple Beth -El 305 West Madison Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to approve parking on both sides of the Temple block <br />on West Madison Street and North Lafayette Boulevard, in conjunction with their Holy Day <br />Services, on Sunday, September 24, 1995, beginning at 8:15 p.m.; Monday, September 25, 1995, <br />
