432 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 14, 1995 <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. Katie Johnston, 1511 East Madison, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to <br />block party, on Sunday, August 27, 1995, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Madison Street, from <br />Twyckenham to Esther Streets. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT MILLION DOLLAR SALMON RUN <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Madison Center, 403 East Madison Street, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the Million Dollar <br />Salmon Run, on Saturday, October 14, 1995, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT MARCH - NORTHERN INDIANA <br />HISTORICAL SOCIETY <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Ms. Kathy Deka, Northern Indiana Center for History, 808 West <br />Washington, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to march, on Saturday, August 26, <br />1995, beginning at 9:00 a.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - WALK-A-THON - C H E E T A <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Ms. Janice Hildabridle, 5002 Cedarwood, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct <br />the above referred to walk-a-thon for the Coalition of Hoosiers Encouraging the Ethical Treatment <br />of Animals, on Sunday, October 1, 1995, beginning at 12:00 noon, on the designated route as <br />submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the <br />recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT HOMECOMING PARADE - RILEY <br />HIGH SCHOOL <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Mr. Anthony Byrd, Assistant Principal, Riley High School, 405 East Ewing, <br />South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to homecoming parade, on Friday, September 22, <br />1995, beginning at 6:30 p.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREETS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE <br />COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME GRAND OPENING <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Mr. Paul Borowski, Community Affairs, to close various streets in <br />conjunction with the Grand Opening, on Wednesday, August 23, 1995, through Saturday, August <br />26, 1995, on the designated streets as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE PHILLIPA STREET - HABITAT FOR <br />HUMANITY <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted <br />by Ms. Glinda Nicodemus, Habitat for Humanity, 402 East South Street, South Bend, Indiana to <br />close Phillipa Street, in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity and the building of several homes <br />in the Philippa Street area, on Saturday, August 12, 1995, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and <br />
