REGULAR MEETING JULY 10. 1995 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, July 10, <br />1995, by Board President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. James R. Caldwell and <br />Mrs. Jenny Pitts Manier present. Also present was Board Attorney Anne Bruneel. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, Agenda items to <br />request permission to conduct a block party and a walk were added to the Agenda. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the minutes of the <br />regular meeting of the Board held on July 3, 1995, were approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - RIVER PARK FESTIVAL <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a <br />License Application for a Transient Merchant License, in conjunction with the River Park Festival, <br />to be held on Saturday, August 12, 1995, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Mishawaka Avenue, <br />between Ironwood and Logan Streets, to conduct the sale of food and craft. Mr. Leszczynski noted <br />that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police Department, Fire Department and <br />the Building Commissioner. There being no one present wishing to address the Board concerning <br />this matter, the Public Hearing was closed. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the License Application for a Transient Merchant License was <br />approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - MICHIANA GEM AND MINERAL <br />SOCIETY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a <br />License Application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Ms. Margaret Heinek, 7091 <br />East Park Lane, New Carlisle, Indiana, to conduct the Michiana Gem and Mineral Society on Friday, <br />September 1, 1995, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 2,1995, from 10:00 a.m. <br />until 5:00 p.m. and Sunday September 3, 1995, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Century Center. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Police <br />Department, Fire Department and the Building Commissioner. Mr. Bill Crowell, 17651 Bryan <br />Street, South Bend, was present, and stated that the Michiana Gem and Mineral Show has been <br />conducted in South Bend for the past six (6) years, and recommended approval. There being no one <br />else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing was closed. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the License <br />Application for a Transient Merchant License was approved. <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM - FIRE <br />ALARM SYSTEM - PROJECT NO 95-48 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded on June 26, 1995, to Herrman & <br />Goetz, Inc., 225 South Lafayette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $26,700.00 for <br />the above referred to project, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the Contract was <br />approved and the appropriate Certificate of Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials <br />Payment Bond as submitted were filed. <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM - <br />ELECTRICAL REPAIR - PROJECT NO. 95-48 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded on June 26, 1995, to McDaniel <br />Fire Systems, 1055 West Joliet Road, Valparaiso, Indiana, in the amount of $14,966.00 for the above <br />referred to project, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the Contract was approved <br />and the appropriate Certificate of Insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment <br />Bond as submitted were filed. <br />
