464 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 4, 1996 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:32 a.m. on Monday, November <br />4, 1996, by Board President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and and Mrs. Jenny Pitts <br />Manier present. Also present was Board Attorney Anne Bruneel. Board Member James R. Caldwell <br />was not present. <br />AGENDA ITEM STRICKEN/AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the agenda item for <br />a Request to Advertise for the Receipt of Bids for the Studebaker Corridor Block 10 Street <br />Improvements was stricken from the agenda; Bid Awards for Elder Parkway and Nimtz Parkway <br />Interchange and an Addendum for South Bend Heritage were added to the agenda. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the minutes of the <br />regular meeting of the Board held on October 28, 1996, were approved. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF QUOTATION - RUM VILLAGE PARTNERSHIP CENTER <br />SERVICE AREA - KENDALL STREET PARK - PROJECT NO 95-26 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed Quotations <br />for the above referred to project. The following Quotation was opened and read: <br />KASER-SPRAKER CONSTRUCTION, INC. <br />25487 West State Road 2 <br />South Bend, Indiana 46619 <br />Quotation was submitted by Mr. Gary L. Spraker, President <br />QUOTATION: $49,854.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above Quotation <br />was referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. Mr. Carl P. Littrell, <br />Director, Division of Engineering, reviewed the quotation, and recommended that the quotation be <br />awarded to Kaser-Spraker Construction, Inc., in the amount of $29,154.00, which includes only the <br />base bid. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the <br />recommendation was approved. <br />OPENING/REJECT OF QUOTATION - ST. JOSEPH/WAYNE STREET PARKING GARAGE <br />REPAIRS - BRICK VENEER - PROJECT NO. 96-23-1 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed Quotations <br />for the above referred to project. The following Quotation was opened and read: <br />CASTEEL CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION <br />23186 West Ireland Road <br />South Bend, Indiana 46614 <br />Quotation was submitted by Mr. Richard W. Plawecki, Vice President <br />QUOTATION: $12,000.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above <br />Quotations were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. Mr. Carl <br />P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, reviewed the quotation, and recommended that the <br />quotation be rejected, as it exceeded the engineer's estimate. Upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, <br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />
