<br />INVOKE EMERGENCY REPAIRS - CLEVELAND ROAD PAVEMENT REPAIR
<br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, stated that on Friday, June 28, 1996, a section
<br />of Cleveland Road just east of Mayflower Road buckled from the summer heat. Traffic is currently
<br />using the paved shoulders adjacent to the roadway. There is another buckled section about one half
<br />mile east of the first that buckled in early May. The Street Department made a temporary repair to
<br />that one. Mr. Littrell requested the Board to declare an emergency situation and allow the
<br />Engineering Division to seek quotes and award a contract to make repairs as soon as possible.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the request
<br />was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT - CENSUS ANALYSIS - UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of an Agreement between the City of South Bend and
<br />the University of Notre Dame, Laboratory for Social Research, G126 Hesberg Library, Notre Dame,
<br />Indiana, for the assistance in the analysis of certain 1980 and 1990 U.S. Census data. Mr. Caldwell
<br />noted that the Agreement is in the amount of $1,000.00. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the Agreement was approved and executed.
<br />APPROVAL OF UTILITY AGREEMENTS - IRONWOOD DRIVE RECONSTRUCTION.
<br />PHASE II - PROJECT NO. 96-25
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the Board is in receipt of six (6) separate Agreements between the City of
<br />South Bend and the following utility companies, for relocation of their utility lines as necessary for
<br />the construction of the above referred to project.

<br />Ameritech
<br />American Electric Power
<br />Mishawaka Utilities (Water)
<br />Mishawaka Utilities (Electric)
<br />TCI of Michiana
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the
<br />Agreements were approved and executed.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT 1996 ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION
<br />MEMORY WALK
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Jo Broden, Alzheimer's Association, 919 East Jefferson, South Bend,
<br />Indiana to conduct the above referred to walk, on Sunday, September 15, 1996, at 12:00 noon,
<br />beginning at Howard Park, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mrs.
<br />Manier, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Melissa DeClercq, 130 North Hawthorne Drive, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above
<br />referred to block party, on Saturday, August 17, 1996, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., on
<br />Hawthorne Drive from Colfax to Washington. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by
<br />Mrs. Manier and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. Milton Allen, 1247 North Kaley, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block
<br />party, on Thursday, July 4, 1996, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., on Calhoun from Kaley to
<br />Eclipse Place. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mrs. Manier and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
