5 Q 7 <br />REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 29, 1997 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:3 5 a.m. on Monday, December <br />29, 1997, by Board Member Carl P. Littrell with Ms. M. Catherine Roemer present. Board Member <br />James R. Caldwell was not present, as well as Board Attorney Michelle Engel. Assistant City <br />Attorney Anne Bruneel was present. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the minutes of the regular <br />meeting of the Board held on December 22, 1997, were approved. <br />APPEAL OF TAXI CAB LICENSE TABLED - PATRICK S. EVERLY <br />This was the date set for an Appeal of a Taxi Cab License, as requested by Mr. Patrick S. Everly, <br />1305 Prairie Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. <br />Roemer and carried, the appeal was tabled until Monday, January 5, 1998. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - REBUILDING OF GRIT CHANNELS - PROJECT NO. 97-114 <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. The following bid was opened and publicly read: <br />MICHIANA INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE, INC. <br />3702 West Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46619 <br />Bid was signed by Mr. Robert L. Wilson, Treasurer <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed <br />Five per cent (5%) Bid Bond was submitted <br />BID: $67,280.43 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the above bid was <br />referred to the Division of Environmental Services for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF QUOTATIONS - VEHICLE SALVAGE <br />Mr. Littrell advised that this was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed Quotations for <br />storage area and facilities for the salvage of vehicles determined by the City to be abandoned. The <br />following Quotations were opened and read: <br />STEVE & GENE'S AUTO TRUCK SALVAGE <br />3109 Gertrude Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Quotation was submitted by Mr. Gene Hancz <br />QUOTATION: $51.00 per vehicle <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the above Quotation was <br />referred to Department of Code Enforcement for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER - ST. JOSEPH VALLEY PARKWAY/NIMTZ PARKWAY/ <br />INDIANA TOLL ROAD INTERCHANGE ACCESS ROAD PAVING, PHASE IV - PROJECT <br />NO. 95-18-5 <br />Mr. Littrell advised that Mr. Toy Villa, Public Construction Manager, has submitted Change Order <br />No. 1 on behalf of Walsh & Kelly, Inc., 24358 State Road 23, South Bend, Indiana, indicating that <br />the Contract amount be increased $11,269.52 for a new Contract sum including this Change Order <br />in the amount of $114,267.97. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and <br />carried, the Change Order was approved. <br />
