<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED
<br />VEHICLES
<br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise
<br />for the sale of approximately sixteen (16) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto
<br />Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles
<br />have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and
<br />the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell
<br />and carried, the above request was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT LUTHERAN CHURCH OF OUR
<br />REDEEMER PARADE
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Karen Doerr, Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 805 South 29th Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to parade, on Sunday, July 13, 1997, from 10:45
<br />a.m. until 11:30 a.m., on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer,
<br />seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT ST. STEPHEN' S PARISH FESTIVAL
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. Benito Salazar, St. Stephen's Parish, 1102 West Thomas Street, South Bend, Indiana to
<br />conduct the above referred to Parish Festival, on Sunday, August 3, 1997, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00
<br />p.m., on McPherson Street from Thomas to Napier Streets. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer,
<br />seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY
<br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Mr. John Foster, 1131 East Victoria, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block
<br />party, on Saturday, July 12, 1997, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., on East Victoria from Marine to
<br />Miami. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the
<br />recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR BONDS
<br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Engineer, Division of Engineering, recommended that the following
<br />Contractor Bonds be approved as follows:
<br />BOND OF CONTRACTOR
<br />Decorative Brick Paver and Tile Approved July 7, 1997
<br />Mike Bryan DBA Mike B. Concrete Approved July 7, 1997
<br />Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bonds be approved
<br />as outlined above. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE CLAIMS
<br />Ms. M. Catherine Roemer, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $728,436.40, dated
<br />July 7, 1997 and recommended approval. Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the claims be approved
<br />and the reports as submitted be filed. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried.
