Jacob, Clerk <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT SUNBURST MARATHON <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Mr. Mark Chambers, Memorial Hospital, 615 North Michigan, South Bend, <br />Indiana to conduct the above referred to marathon, 5K, 1OK and Fun Walk, on Saturday, June 7, <br />1997, on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. <br />Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL, OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT WALK FOR HOSPICE <br />Mr. Caldwell Mated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Ms. Kate Lee, Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, <br />South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to walk, on Sunday, October 12, 1997, on the <br />designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and <br />carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Design Review, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Mr. David Pearson, Mansur Investment Services, Inc., 700 Market Tower, <br />Indianapolis, Indiana to block the alley behind the old Robertson's Building, in order to proceed <br />repairing face brick in the alley way, from.March 17, 1997 through July 30, 1997. Upon a motion <br />made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved, <br />subject to an Occupancy Bond. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC AUCTION <br />Mr. Caldwell stated the Services Division Chief Richard R. Kilgore, South Bend Police Department, <br />requested permission to conduct a public auction to dispose of unclaimed property as allowed by law. <br />Chief Kilgore -stated that the auction will be held on April 12, 1997, beginning at 8:30 a.m., in the <br />garage area'at the rear of 701 West Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana. Also submitted was a <br />contract with Kaser's Auction Service, 68099 Sycamore, North Liberty, Indiana, who is a licensed <br />auctioneer, that will be conducting the auction service. Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, <br />seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request to conduct a public auction was approved, as well <br />as the Contract with Kaser's Auction Service. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - 1997 STREET <br />MATERIALS <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl P. Littrell, Director, Division of Engineering, requested <br />permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for 1997 Street Materials. Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt <br />of bids was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE (1) MORE <br />OR LESS IO' CARGO VAN <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Equipment Services, requested <br />permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to equipment. Mr. Chlebowski <br />stated that funding for this vehicle will be through Central Services Capital Motor Equipment <br />Account. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the <br />request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. <br />INVOKE EMERGENCY POWERS <br />Mr. Littrell stated that due to a sewer collapse on South Main Street, the Sewer Department urgently <br />required to provide a contractor, Herrman & Goetz, to repair the sewer.
