REGULAR MEETING <br />BOND OF CONTRACTOR <br />Skip's Home Improvement <br />EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Harmon Contract <br />A&J Cranes, Inc. <br />Trans Tech Electric <br />AUGUST 31, 1998 <br />Approved August 31, 1998 <br />Released Effective August 3, 1998 <br />Released Effective August 31, 1998 <br />Approved August 31, 1998 <br />Ms. Roemer made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and that the Bonds be approved <br />and/or released as outlined aLove. Mr. Powell seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Ms. M. Catherine Roemer, City Controller, submitted claims in the amount of $2,498,606.41 and <br />recommended approval. Ms. Roemer made a motion that the claims be approved and the reports as <br />submitted be filed. Mr. Powell seconded the motion which carried. <br />PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR <br />Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, requested that an area for a drainage easement near the Blackthorn <br />Corporate Park be approved. The paperwork will be signed at the next Board of Public Works <br />meeting. <br />Mr. Powell stated that Verkler, Inc., submitted a letter to the Board, in reference to bid package 98- <br />25-5 for the Morris Performing Arts Center, requesting that Verkler 1) distributes plans and <br />specifications from their office and 2) the bid opening date would be changed to a Thursday for <br />Friday, early afternoon. Board members discussed the request, and recommended that the Board of <br />Works continue the process of distributing plans and specs as in the past, and that there was not a <br />need to have a special bid opening date, other that a regular Monday board meeting. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to coma before the Board, upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, <br />seconded by Mr. Powell and carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:20 a.m. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />Z 'I'm <br />J ames R. aldwell, President <br />Lewis N.
