034 <br />REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 9, 1998 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:3 5 a.m. on Monday, February <br />9, 1998, by Board President James R. Caldwell, with Mr. Carl P. Littrell and Ms. M. Catherine <br />Roemer present. Board Attorney Michelle Engel was not present; Attorney Ann Carol Simons was <br />present in her absence. <br />AGENDA ITEM TABLED/ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms.. Roemer and carried, the agenda item for a <br />Proposal for Consulting Services was tabled; and an agenda item for a Request to Advertise for the <br />Receipt of Bids for the Sample Ewing Redevelopment Area, Site Clearance Phase IV was added. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the minutes of the <br />regular meeting of the Board held on February 2, 1998, were approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - MARKETPRO COMPUTER <br />SHOWS, INC. <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a License <br />Application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Ms. Jeanette Winton, 5870 Hubbard <br />Drive, Rockville, Maryland, to conduct the MarketPro Computer Shows, Inc., at the Century Center <br />on February 16, 1998; March 21 and 22, 1998; October 11, 1998 and November 8, 1998, for the sale <br />of computer hardware and software. Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been <br />received from the Police Department, Fire Department, Building Commissioner and the Legal <br />Department. <br />Mr. Mark Bradley, Century Center, was present, and recommended approval. There being no one <br />else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing was closed. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the Transient <br />Merchant License was approved. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - SOUTH BEND GEM AND <br />JEWELRY SHOW <br />Mr. Caldwell advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning a License <br />Application for a Transient Merchant License as submitted by Ms. Margaret Heinek, 7091 E..East <br />Park Lane, New Carlisle, Indiana, to conduct the South Bend Gem and Jewelry Show at the Century <br />Center on March 27, .28 and 29, 1998, for the sale of gems, fossils and minerals. Mr. Caldwell stated <br />that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police Department, Fire Department, <br />Building Commissioner and the Legal Department. <br />Ms. Margaret Heinek, 7091 E. East Park Lane, New Carlisle, Indiana, as well as Mr. Mark Bradley, <br />Century Center, were present, and recommended approval. There being no one else present wishing <br />to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing was closed. <br />Therefore, upon a . motion made by Mr. ' Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the <br />Application for a Transient Merchant License was approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - FOUR (4) MORE OR LESS POLICE PATROL VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to vehicles. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient..
