<br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 26, 1998
<br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:40 a.m. on Monday, January
<br />26, 1998, by Board Member James R. Caldwell, with Mr. Carl P. Littrell and Ms. M. Catherine
<br />Roemer present. Also present was Board Attorney Michelle Engel.
<br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED
<br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, an agenda item for a
<br />Traffic Control Device was added.
<br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
<br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the minutes of the regular
<br />meeting of the Board held on January 19, 1998, were approved.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - MIDWEST BOAT AND
<br />OUTDOOR SHOW
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning an
<br />Application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Mr. Melvin E. Wood, 15030
<br />Stransbury Court, Granger, Indiana, to conduct the Michiana Boat and Outdoor Show at the Century
<br />Center on February 27, 28 and March 1, 1998, for the sale of boats and fishing equipment. It was
<br />noted that favorable recommendations were received from the Police Department, Fire Department,
<br />Building Commissioner and the Legal Department.
<br />Mr. Melvin E. Wood, 15030 Stransbury Court, Granger, Indiana, was present, and recommended
<br />approval. There being no one else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the
<br />Public Hearing was closed.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the Application
<br />for a Transient Merchant License was approved.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING - TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - VILLAGE WEST ENTERPRISES
<br />INC.
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning an
<br />Application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Ms. Rita Stansu, RR 1, Box 195C,
<br />Lake Village, Indiana, to conduct the sale of antique and modern rifles, shotguns, revolvers and
<br />pistols at Union Stadon on February 6, 7 and 8, 1998. It was noted that favorable recommendations
<br />were received from the Police Department, Fire Department, Building Commissioner and the Legal
<br />Department.
<br />Ms. Rita Stansu, RR 1, Box 195C, Lake Village, Indiana, was present, and recommended approval.
<br />There being no one else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public
<br />Hearing was closed.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the Application
<br />for a Transient Merchant License was approved.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING -TRANSIENT MERCHANT LICENSE - MIDWEST GOLF AND SPORT
<br />SHOWS, INC.
<br />Mr. Caldwell advised that this was the date set for the Board's Public Hearing concerning an
<br />Application for a Transient Merchant License, as submitted by Mr. Robert Sayre, 10 South 267 Kaye
<br />Lane, Hinsdale, Illinois, to conduct the Midwest Golf and Sport Show at the Century Center on
<br />February 6, 7 and 8, 1998, for the sale of golf products and services. It was noted that favorable
<br />recommendations were received from the Police 'Department, Fire Department, Building
<br />Commissioner and the Legal Department.
<br />Mr. Mark Bradley, Century Center, was present, and recommended approval. There being no one
<br />else present wishing to address the Board concerning this matter, the Public Hearing was closed.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the Application
<br />for a Transient Merchant License was approved.
