REGULAR MEETING JULY 19. 1999 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 1999, by Board President James R. Caldwell, with Ms. M. Catherine Roemer present. Board Member Lewis N. Powell and Board Attorney Michelle Engel were not present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Ann Carol Nash. AGENDA ITEMS ADDED Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by and Mr. Roemer and carried, an Excavation Bond for Fenner Plumbing Inc. and an Emergency Concrete Patch were added to the agenda. APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held on July 12, 1999, were approved. OPENING/AWARD OF QUOTATIONS - LEIGHTON PLAZA BUILD OUT FOR LEASE SPACES 7 & 8 - PROJECT NO. 97-57-10 Mr. Caldwell advised that this was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed Quotations for the above referred to project. The following Quotations were opened and read: FORSEY CONSTRUCTION INC. 2018 Ironwood Circle South Bend, Indiana 46635 Quotation was submitted by Mr. Michael Crawford, Vice President QUOTATION: $44,600.00 $40,700.00/Alternate Bid SHAMROCK DEVELOPMENT INC. 5775 Nimtz Parkway South Bend, Indiana 46628 Quotation was submitted by Mr. Lacey King, Estimator QUOTATION: $61,102.00 $55,691.00/Alternate Bid IDEAL INTERIORS OFMICMAXTA INC Post Office Box 2498 South Bend, Indiana 46680 Quotation was submitted by Ideal Interiors of Michiana, Inc. QUOTATION: $50,875.00 Deduct $8, 100. 00/Alternate Bid Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the above Quotations were referred to the Division ofEngineering for review and recommendation. After reviewing those quotations, Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, recommended that the Board award the contract to Forsey Construction, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $40,700.00, which is the Alternate Bid. Therefore, Ms. Roemer made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Caldwell seconded the motion which carried. AWARD BID - SAMPLE STREET SEWER RECONSTRUCTION - PROJECT NO. 99-49 Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on July 12, 1999, bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Littrell recommended that the Board award the contract to Iierrman & Goetz, 225 South Lafayette, South Bend, Indiana in the amount of $172,210.56. Therefore, Mr. Caldwell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Ms. Roemer seconded the motion which carried.
