REGULAR MEETING <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 1, 1999 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:33 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, <br />1999, by Board President James R. Caldwell, with Mr. Lewis N. Powell and Ms. M. Catherine <br />Roemer present. Also present was Board Attorney Michelle Engel._ The Board of Public Works <br />meeting was held on Tuesday, as May 31, 1999 was Memorial Day. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the following agenda <br />items were added: <br />- Request for a March for Education <br />- Request to Award Portions of 1999 Street Materials Bid/Reject and Re -Bid Aggregates <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Mr. Powell stated that there were two (2) errors in the minutes, i.e., Mr. Caldwell's name appeared <br />in two agenda items, and Mr. Powell's name should have been noted. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Powell, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held <br />on May 24, 1999, were approved, subject to the two (2) changes. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - LAUREL ROAD SEWER/WATER EXTENSION - PROJECT NO. 98-71 <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />SMALL_ INC. <br />25190 State Road 4 <br />North Liberty, Indiana 46554 <br />Bid was signed by Mr. Ronald Howell <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed <br />Five per cent (5%) Bid Bond was submitted <br />BID: $559,499.87 <br />LAFREE EARTH. INC. <br />Post Office Box 1752 <br />Mishawaka, Indiana 46546 <br />Bid was signed by Mr. Greg LaFree <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed <br />Five per cent (5%) Bid Bond was submitted <br />BID: $449,778.50 <br />YOUNGS EXCAVATING, INC <br />Post Office Box 2766 <br />South Bend, Indiana 46680 <br />Bid was signed by Mr. Kurt Youngs <br />Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed <br />Five per cent (5%) Bid Bond was submitted <br />BID: $744,156.00 <br />
