Jacob, Clerk <br />MARCH 1, 1999 <br />CITY"OF SOUTH BEND <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/James R. Caldwell, President <br />s/Lewis N. Powell, Member <br />s/M. Catherine Roemer, Member <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT MARCH OF DIMES "WALK <br />AMERICA" FUND RAISER <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a <br />request as submitted by Ms: Carol Hummer, 501 East Monroe Street, Suite 215, South Bend, <br />Indiana, to conduct the above referred to walk, on April 24, 1999, on the designated route as <br />submitted. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Powell, and carried the <br />recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO USE CITY FACILITIES FOR VOTING PLACES - <br />MAY/ NOVEMBER ELECTIONS - 1999 <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, Park Department, Police Department, City Attorney's Office, Economic Development, <br />Fire Department, and Building Department for a request tQ use City facilities for voting places for the <br />May and November elections, as submitted by the St. Joseph County Commissioners, South Bend, <br />Indiana. Upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, seconded by Ms. Roemer, and carried the <br />recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the following traffic <br />control device was approved: _ <br />NEW INSTALLATION OF: 2 HOUR -PARKING SIGN <br />LOCATION: WEST SIDE OF MAIN STREET FROM BARTLETT TO <br />PARK ` <br />REMARKS: TO CREATE PARKING TURNOVER FOR THE VISITORS <br />TO THE HOSPITAL <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Powell, seconded by Ms." Roemer and carried, the following traffic <br />control device was approved: <br />NEW INSTALLATION OF: ALL -WAY STOP SIGN <br />LOCATION: CORBY BOULEVARD AND HICKORY ROAD <br />REMARKS- 1N CONJUNCTION WITH THE CITY OF MISHAWAKA <br />AND CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />APPROVE RELEASE OF CONTRACTOR BOND <br />Mr. Larry D. Spradlin, Sr., Enginecr, Division -of Engineering, recommended that the following <br />Contractor Bond be -released as follows: <br />BOND OF CONTRACTOR <br />Jason W. German DBA JW German Released Effective April 14, 1999 <br />Ms. Roemer made a motion that the recommendation be: accepted and that the Bond be released as <br />outlined above.
