REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 22. 1999 TABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY Upon a motion made by'lMir. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Roemer and carried, this Petition to Vacate an Alley was tabled. �j APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - SECOND HAND DEALER Mr. Caldwell stated that the following secondhand dealers license application has been received: NAME: Mason's Heating, A/C and Appliance BY: Fidencio Bueno, Sr. ADDRESS: 118 East Sample Street FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: Used appliances Mr. Caldwell further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, Department of Code Enforcement, Police Department and Fire Department concerning the above application. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance of a license. PETITION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A RESIDENTIAL PARKING ZONE DENIED - - 300 BLOCK LAMONT TERRACE Mr. Caldwell stated that an unfavorable recommendation has been received by the Division of Engineering, in reference to a petition as submitted by Ms. Mary.Henry, 315 LaMonte Terrace, South Bend, Indiana, for the establishment of a residential parking zone in the 300 block of LaMont Terrace. Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, stated that on January 28, 1999, a twelve hour survey was conducted in this area from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00.p.m. The results of the survey showed -curb space was only occupied by vehicles 53% of the twelve-hour period, with the percentage of curb space occupied by non-residents only 24% of the total vehicles surveyed during the. same twelve hour period. These percentages are lower.than the South Bend Municipal Code minimum requirements for a special Residential Parking Permit to be issued. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request for Residential Parking was denied. ,APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED ti VEHICLES Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately nineteen (19) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto, Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell and carried, the above request was approved. ADOPT RESOLUTION NO.4-1999 - DISPOSAL OF OBSOLETE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by. Ms. Roemer and carried, the following Resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works: RESOLUTION NO. 4-1999 A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND/OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that the following property is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and is no longer needed by the City of South Bend: 1990 CHEVROLET - VIN#1GBKP37W2K3320328 WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-6(c) permits and establishes procedure for disposal of personal property which is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and which is no longer needed by the City. .
