REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 22. 1999 <br />TABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE AN ALLEY <br />Upon a motion made by'lMir. Caldwell, seconded by Mr. Roemer and carried, this Petition to Vacate <br />an Alley was tabled. <br />�j APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - SECOND HAND DEALER <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that the following secondhand dealers license application has been received: <br />NAME: Mason's Heating, A/C and Appliance <br />BY: Fidencio Bueno, Sr. <br />ADDRESS: 118 East Sample Street <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELLING: Used appliances <br />Mr. Caldwell further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting, Department of Code Enforcement, Police Department and Fire Department <br />concerning the above application. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's <br />Office for issuance of a license. <br />PETITION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A RESIDENTIAL PARKING ZONE DENIED - <br />- 300 BLOCK LAMONT TERRACE <br />Mr. Caldwell stated that an unfavorable recommendation has been received by the Division of <br />Engineering, in reference to a petition as submitted by Ms. Mary.Henry, 315 LaMonte Terrace, South <br />Bend, Indiana, for the establishment of a residential parking zone in the 300 block of LaMont <br />Terrace. Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, stated that on January 28, 1999, a twelve hour survey was <br />conducted in this area from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00.p.m. The results of the survey showed -curb space <br />was only occupied by vehicles 53% of the twelve-hour period, with the percentage of curb space <br />occupied by non-residents only 24% of the total vehicles surveyed during the. same twelve hour <br />period. These percentages are lower.than the South Bend Municipal Code minimum requirements <br />for a special Residential Parking Permit to be issued. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Caldwell, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request for Residential Parking was denied. <br />,APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED <br />ti VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Kathy Dempsey, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise <br />for the sale of approximately nineteen (19) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto, <br />Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles <br />have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and <br />the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Caldwell <br />and carried, the above request was approved. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO.4-1999 - DISPOSAL OF OBSOLETE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Caldwell, seconded by. Ms. Roemer and carried, the following <br />Resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4-1999 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />ON DISPOSAL OF UNFIT AND/OR OBSOLETE PROPERTY <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that the following property is <br />unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and is no longer needed by the City of South Bend: <br />1990 CHEVROLET - VIN#1GBKP37W2K3320328 <br />WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-6(c) permits and establishes procedure for disposal of <br />personal property which is unfit for the purpose for which it was intended and which is no longer <br />needed by the City. . <br />
