i.J 2 +. � d REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 27, 2001 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:33 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2001, by Board President Gary A. Gilot, with Mr. Carl P. Littrell and Mr. Donald E. Inks present. Also present was Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. ADD AGENDA ITEMS Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following items were added to the agenda: - Contractor Bond - Request for Temporary Occupancy - Supplemental Agreement - Abonmarche Group - Claims - City of South Bend - Award Bid - South Michigan Street - Award Bid - Dubail Street Improvements OPENING OF BIDS/AWARD BID - 2001 CONCRETE PAVEMENT REPAIRS - PROJECT NO. 101-053 This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: LAPORTE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. Post Office Box 577 LaPorte, Indiana 46352 Bid was signed by Mr. Thomas Blackburn Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed Five per cent (5%) Bid Bond was submitted BID: $211,771.11 RIETH RILEY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. 25200 State Road 23 South Bend, Indiana 46634 Bid was signed by Mr. Christopher Weinkauf Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed Five per cent (5%) Bid Bond was submitted BID: $240,492.50 WALSH & KELLY, INC. 24358 State Road 23 South Bend, Indiana 46614 Bid was signed by Mr. Kevin Kelly Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed , Five per cent (5%) Bid Bond was submitted BID: $414,454.25 Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the above bids were referred to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Toy Villa, Public Construction Manager, recommends that the Board award the contract to LaPorte Construction in the amount of $211,771.11. Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Inks seconded the motion which carried.
