Jacob, Clerk <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - NORTH ALBERT FROM <br />WASHINGTON TO GARDEN PLACE - BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, <br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. <br />Jaime Shead and Ms. Angela Carano,116 North Albert, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above <br />referred to block party on April 14, 2001, from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 a.m. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Gilot, seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO DENY STREET CLOSURE - 600 BLOCK OF ST. <br />PETER - BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Gilot stated that the Board of Public Works reviewed the above referred to application, and upon <br />recommendation from the South Bend Police Department, recommended denial of the request for <br />a street closing based on the following: 1) insufficient accessibility for emergency and safety <br />vehicles; 2) insufficient restroom facilities and 3) a prior history of parties held in the area having <br />an average attendance of over 200 people and underage drinking. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, <br />seconded by Ms. Roemer and carried, the request was denied. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: <br />American Promotional Events/Fred Schrader <br />Wal-Mart Parking Lot/ Portage Avenue <br />Sale of Safe Fireworks <br />June 20 through July 4, 2001 <br />Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police <br />Department, Department of Code Enforcement, Fire Department and the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting for the above application. The South Bend Fire Department approved the application <br />subj ect to the sale Indiana approved fireworks only. Additionally provided with the application was <br />a letter of permission from the property owner. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Ms. <br />Roemer and carried, the above license application was approved subject to the recommendation of <br />the South Bend Fire Department, and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. <br />APPROVAL OF LICENSE APPLICATION FOR CARNIVAL - CIRCUS PAGES <br />INTERNATIONAL, INC. <br />Mr. Gilot stated that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations from the Police <br />Department, Engineering, Park Department, Code Enforcement, Fire Department, Building <br />Department and the City Attorney's Office for a License Application for a Circus, as submitted by <br />Ms. Jeanette Pevey, Circus Pages, Int., Inc., Myakka City, Florida.
