003 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 14, 2002 <br />OPENING OF STATEMENTS OF QUALIFICATIONS - ENERGY EFFICIENCY <br />CONTRACTING FOR CENTURY CENTER <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of Statements of Qualifications for the above referred <br />to project. TheO&k tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following Statements were opened: <br />ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUPS <br />5240 West Southern Avenue, Suite 400 <br />Indianapolis, Indiana 46241 <br />COMFORT SYSTEMS USA <br />3210 Sugar Maple Court <br />South Bend, Indiana 46628 <br />THE TRANE COMPANY <br />929 Lincolnway East <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />JOHNSON CONTROLS <br />1225 North Senate Avenue <br />Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 <br />SIEMENS BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES, INC. <br />6002 Corporate Way <br />Indianapolis, Indiana 46278 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the above bids were referred <br />to the Energy Efficiency Review Committee for review and recommendation. <br />AWARD QUOTATION - PALAIS ROYALE ASBESTOS ABATEMENT - EMERGENCY <br />POWERS <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that during demolition in the retail area on the <br />first floor, asbestos containing material was found under the carpet being removed. The area had not <br />been inspected for ACM or hazardous material. Because construction is underway, it is important <br />to remove the ACM at the earliest possible time. Engineering solicited quotes and opened them on <br />January 11, 2002 on an emergency basis. Quotes were received from Specialty Systems, 55215 <br />Mayflower Road, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $1,450.00, and from Clean Air Systems, <br />23349 State Road 23 West, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $1,783.00. Mr. Littrell reviewed <br />the quotation, and recommended the award to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, <br />Specialty Systems, in the amount of $1,450.00. <br />Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be approved. Mr. Inks seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />FILING OF SAFETY REPORT - DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS - STREET <br />DEPARTMENT <br />The Street Department submitted a Safety Report for December 2001. This report reflects <br />injuries/accidents for the month and provides for a comparison. There being no further discussion, <br />upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the report was accepted and <br />is filed. <br />
