AGENDA SESSION AUGUST 4, 2005 0269 <br />The Public Agenda Session of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:01 a.m. on <br />Thursday, August 4, 2005, by Board Member Carl P. Littrell with Donald E. Inks present. <br />Board President Gary A. Gilot was not present. Attorney Thomas Bodnar was also <br />present. Board of Public Works Clerk Angela Jacob presented the Board with a proposed <br />agenda of items presented by the public and by City Staff. <br />Agenda Item Added <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the following <br />item was added to the agenda: <br />- Title Sheet — Willowgate Trails Subdivision <br />Board members discussed the following item(s) from that list. <br />- Open Bids - Studebaker Area "A" Demolition <br />Mr. Andy Laurent, Community and Economic Development, explained the <br />proposal sheet and the pre -qualified bidders list for the bid opening at the regular <br />meeting on August 8, 2005. <br />- Award Bid - 2005 Concrete Patches for Utility Cuts <br />Mr. Carl Littrell, Engineering, wanted to ensure the award was not in the amount <br />of $628,500.00 but for the unit cost as bid on July 25, 2005. <br />- Award Bid - Jett Rodder/Vacuum Machine w/Cab & Chassis <br />Mr. Matt Chlebowski, Equipment Services, stated that the award for this bid is <br />$116,750.00 less than the budgeted cost. <br />- Project Report - St. Louis Street Emergency Sewer Repair <br />Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, stated that the emergency repairs on St. Louis Street <br />were performed by Underground Services after a subsidence was found on St. <br />Louis Street just south of Cedar. A leaking sprinkler head was located in the St. <br />Joseph Hospital's treelawn along with an unplugged lateral. The work was <br />completed on July 18, 2005 in the amount of $6,608.90. <br />- Project Report - Corby/Woodcliff Emergency Sewer Repair <br />Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, stated that the emergency repairs were performed by <br />Underground Services after a depression was found in the treelawn on Corby <br />Boulevard just west of Woodcliff. The sewer had collapsed and the entire length <br />of pipe on Corby from Woodlawn to the lift station was on the verge of <br />collapsing. Underground Services replaced approximately 200 feet of sewer, <br />installed a new manhole, replaced approximately 200 feet of curb and sidewalk <br />and placed approximately 60 tons of crushed concrete for the road base. The <br />work was completed during the week of July 11, 2005 with a cost of $52,041.80. <br />- Proposal — Extension of Sanitary Sewer & Water Lines along Douglas Road <br />Mr. Carl Littrell, Engineering, stated that this proposal is for design services for a <br />sewer extension along Douglas Road. <br />- Construction Contract - Hopewell Baptist Church Demolition <br />Mr. Carl Littrell, Engineering, stated that this construction contract is for the <br />demolition of Hopewell Baptist Church Demolition as part of the United Drive <br />proj ect. <br />- Addendum — Studebaker National Archives <br />Mr. Carl Littrell, Engineering, stated that the addendum to the contract with The <br />Troyer Group will be paid by the Studebaker National Museum. <br />- Agreement Update — 219 South Chapin Street Renovation <br />Mr. Carl Littrell, Engineering, stated that this Agreement Update will be paid by <br />the Studebaker National Museum. <br />- Alley Vacation - Next to Lots 85, 86, & 87 on Brookfield Street in Prairie Heights <br />Addition <br />Mr. Carl Littrell, Engineering, stated that an elevation change and the existence of <br />a substantial wood fence will prevent the neighboring property from easily and <br />effectively benefiting from the vacation. It also seems that the petitioner has <br />already taken possession of the alley and uses it as a parking space. An amicable <br />agreement between the neighbor and the petitioner must be reached and recorded <br />as to the division of the alley, preferably through a real estate professional. <br />- Alley Vacation — Between Lots 300 and 331 off of Franklin in Shivley's Addition <br />Mr. Carl Littrell, Engineering, stated that the petitioner, Mr. Michael Ludwig, <br />owns lots 34 and 35 next to the alley to be vacated. Mr. Ludwig has a long <br />history with Code Enforcement regarding housekeeping at lot 35. He has not <br />
