CITY OF SOUTH BEND PETITION FOR REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT CONSIDERATION The undersigned owner(s) of real property, located within the City of South Bend, hereby petition the Common Council of the City of South Bend for real property tax abatement consideration and pursuant to I.C., 6-1.1-12.1-1, et se .and South Bend Municipal Code Sec. 2-76 et seq., for this petition states the following: 1. Describe the proposed redevelopment ar rehabilitation project, including information about physical improvements to be made, the proposed use of the improvements, and a general statement as to the importance of the project to your business: The proposed project will result in a revitalization of a former Studebaker site currently listed as a Brownfield. This property is a blighted property obtained through St. Joseph County, in which a planned development of a transfer station/material recYcling facility will be built. The facility will be new, conforming with all Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) regulations This facility will greatly enhance the amount of material recycled particularly in the city of South Bend and in businesses not currently recycling. Land Size 10.05 acres; Building Size 52,800 _ sq.ft. 2. Describe the overall nature of the business and of the operations occurring at the Property (attach additional sheet if more space is needed): Material will be brought into the transfer station, unloaded onto the tipping floor inspected and sorted. Recyclables will be moved to automatic and manual sorting conveyor and baler systems to be processed and marketed. Non-recycfables will be transported to approved landfills. 3. Estimate the dollar value of the project (excluding land): $ 1,608,000.00 4. The current assessed valuation of the real property before rehabilitation, redevelopment, economic revitalization, or improvement: $ Formerly, a privately owned~arcel currently owned by St. Joseph County due to back-taxes.
