CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />PETITION FOR REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT CONSIDERATION <br />The undersigned owner(s) of real property, located within the City of South Bend, <br />hereby petition the Common Council of the City of South Bend for real property tax <br />abatement consideration and pursuant to I.C., 6-1.1-12.1-1, et se .and South Bend <br />Municipal Code Sec. 2-76 et seq., for this petition states the following: <br />1. Describe the proposed redevelopment ar rehabilitation project, including <br />information about physical improvements to be made, the proposed use of the <br />improvements, and a general statement as to the importance of the project to <br />your business: <br />The proposed project will result in a revitalization of a former Studebaker site <br />currently listed as a Brownfield. This property is a blighted property obtained <br />through St. Joseph County, in which a planned development of a transfer <br />station/material recYcling facility will be built. The facility will be new, <br />conforming with all Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) <br />regulations This facility will greatly enhance the amount of material recycled <br />particularly in the city of South Bend and in businesses not currently recycling. <br />Land Size 10.05 <br />acres; Building Size 52,800 _ sq.ft. <br />2. Describe the overall nature of the business and of the operations occurring at <br />the Property (attach additional sheet if more space is needed): <br />Material will be brought into the transfer station, unloaded onto the tipping <br />floor inspected and sorted. Recyclables will be moved to automatic and <br />manual sorting conveyor and baler systems to be processed and marketed. <br />Non-recycfables will be transported to approved landfills. <br />3. Estimate the dollar value of the project (excluding land): $ 1,608,000.00 <br />4. The current assessed valuation of the real property before rehabilitation, <br />redevelopment, economic revitalization, or improvement: $ <br />Formerly, a privately owned~arcel currently owned by St. Joseph County due <br />to back-taxes. All improvements have been demolished, will need new assessment. <br />(Rev 10/23/06) <br />
